Environmental justice is about setting the stage so that there can be healthier living conditions for everyone, regardless of which zipcode you're born in or happen to reside in. It’s about equal access to clean water, air, and soil.
The Center for Environmental Justice at CSU is comprised of faculty and staff members across academic disciplines who teach, research, and do community engagement related to environmental justice issues.
A recent project of CEJ was the Mountains and Plains Thriving Communities Collaborative Program to help rural and tribal communities in the Western U.S. tap into funding opportunities to finish projects they’ve started. Projects ranged across a spectrum: water access, training and grant writing, food access, and developing resilient energy grids.
Through this program, CEJ has provided targeted technical assistance to 215 communities since August 2024. By developing relationships with communities and organizations and listening to their needs, the CEJ assembles experts to provide information and support to help those communities thrive.
Liberal Arts Impact
Colorado State University’s College of Liberal Arts is a vibrant community of artists, thinkers, storytellers, and scientists who examine the human experience. In these podcasts, our faculty share their areas of expertise and talk about why their work matters in our world today.
Faculty and staff recorded their podcasts with CSU's Center for Science Communication through the leadership of Associate Professor Jaime Jacobsen and her graduate students in the Department of Journalism and Media Communication.
