Ann Gill endowment to bring speakers and artists to campus

For nearly 40 years Ann Gill has been a tireless champion for the liberal arts. In the spirit of her ongoing commitment, the Ann Gill Visiting Lecturer and Artist Endowment was created to bring diverse talents, perspectives, and thought leadership to campus for the benefit of the liberal arts community.

Through her dedicated mentorship and passion for putting students first, Gill has had a profound impact on the College of Liberal Arts, helping solidify it as a critical and fundamental component of Colorado State University. The opportunity to interact with and learn from visiting speakers and artists is a crucial part of a student’s education and experience. Additionally, bringing well-known speakers and artists to campus adds to the college’s growing reputation as a premier place to pursue a liberal arts education.

Gill explained that in challenging budget years funds for guest speakers and artists are among the first cuts.

“Bringing extraordinary individuals to campus to share their stories is a life-long gift to our students,” Gill said. “We created an endowment for liberal arts programming to ensure that we can continue to make these amazing experiences available.”

‘Love Your State’ Day of Giving

April 21 marked CSU’s annual ‘Love Your State’ Day of Giving, a campus-wide effort designed to make a big financial impact on the university in a short period of time. The liberal arts community showed their appreciation for retiring Dean Ann Gill by raising an impressive $18,762 for the new endowment, the largest amount of money raised by any college or fund. The Liberal Arts Development Council matched that amount, bringing the day’s total to $37,524. Gifts ranged in size from $10 to thousands of dollars, with 151 donors supporting the fund.

In all, the Day of Giving raised $128,270 for 14 funds, with almost 2,000 individual gifts.

“The outpouring of support for this Day of Giving was tremendous,” said Brett Anderson, vice president of University Advancement. “Our students, alumni and friends helped us surpass all of our goals for this day. Thank you to each and every donor who supported a fund here at Colorado State University that they care about. You are making a difference.”
